“Thobe of Life”: a
production-line project of authentic and popular fashion
Implementation of this project
started in 2011 with the objective to preserve the authentic and popular attire
as it was before 1948. Al Hannouneh produced a line of over 50 popular
replica dresses so far, and the search for more pattern is still on for
reproduction to ensure its existence among us. This project currently serves a
total of 60 women with partial income. And Al Hannouneh intends to
increase the number of the female working force on this project by establishing
an embroidery and handmade atelier. This is not only a project to protect the
traditional attire and the art of embroidery from distinction, it also
contributes to the development of the local society.
