“Thobe of Life”: Preserving the Art of Palestinian Folk Dress
Launched in 2011, this project is dedicated to preserving authentic Palestinian folk attire as it existed before 1948. To date, Al Hannouneh has produced over 50 faithful reproductions of traditional dress patterns, with the search for new patterns ongoing — ensuring these garments continue to live among us.
The project currently provides partial income for 60 women, with plans to expand the workforce through the establishment of a dedicated embroidery and handicraft atelier. More than a preservation effort, Thobe for Life safeguards both a traditional art form and the livelihoods of the women who carry it forward.
